What your future may hold

You will work at the Brussels office, which is part of Eversheds Sutherland’s wider Benelux offering, including teams in Luxembourg and the Netherlands. As a fast-growing and ambitious practice, the Benelux team advises clients on both domestic and international matters, working closely with colleagues across the global Eversheds Sutherland network. The team is active in a range of key practice areas, including M&A,  Banking & Finance, Tax,  Litigation, Real Estate & Planning, Employment & Pensions and Data, Privacy & Technology. Together, they serve clients across sectors such as Industrials, TMT, Energy, Financial Services, Consumer and Life Sciences.

As Senior Associate Corporate M&A, you will:

• Be involved in a wide range of corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, private equity, and corporate reorganisations and restructurings, often spanning multiple jurisdictions;
• Engage with top-tier, multinational clients and build long-term client relationships by offering strategic and commercial legal advice;
• Work closely with your four colleagues: two associates, Benjamin and partner Kristof Slootmans, who recently joined the team. Kristof focuses on private and public M&A, joint ventures, and reorganisations, and is known for his pragmatic, deal-driven approach;
• Regularly collaborate with lawyers across Eversheds Sutherland’s international network.

Your skillset

• Belgian qualified lawyer with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in Corporate M&A, ideally gained at a leading international or well-regarded local law firm.
• Strong drafting skills and proven ability to manage corporate transactions with limited supervision.
• Commercially minded and client-focused, with a strong sense of business acumen.
• Pragmatic and solution-oriented, with sound judgment in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both internally and externally.
• Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset, the eagerness to contribute to a newly restructured, ambitious team and, ideally, the ability to mentor junior colleagues.
• Thrives in a dynamic, international environment.
• Fluent in French and English; proficiency in Dutch is an asset.
